Things NOT TO DO when planning your wedding! Planning a wedding takes time, patience, and money! There is a method to all of the madness! It is like baking a cake. You have to preheat the oven to get it to the correct temperature, (booking a venue and setting a date) mix the ingredients (finding the vendors), and then have patience while it bakes (planning all of the little details) enjoying the taste (enjoying your wedding day)!
Sounds easy, right? Well not so fast. Just as with anything you have never done before, you have to research it and find the best way to do it. There are many steps to complete before the big day arrives.
From our experience, we have put together four wedding planning pitfalls that are easy to fall into and can create problems with your wedding planning. Causing stress which can be avoided!
- Waiting to Book Your Venue and Vendors – Weddings are back and venues and vendors are in short supply and in high demand. We suggest you book your venue as soon as possible and start to contact potential vendors for their availability. Certain months of the year are the most sought after for weddings, May, June, September, and October. So if you are looking ahead to one of those months, be ready to jump on hiring your vendors right away as their calendars fill up quickly in those months!
- Don’t Be Venue Poor – Don’t choose a venue that is out of your price range! You will be very disappointed to find out that you cannot hire the remaining vendors you want because the majority of your budget has gone to the venue. Be strategic with your budget and keep your emotions in check and be realistic about what you can afford.
- Pinterest Is Not Real! – Yes, the photos and ideas are so pretty and cool, but they may not be something that you can afford with your budget. Prices of all wedding-related items are high and they add up very quickly. So before you decide on that ice sculpture or champagne wall, ask yourself this question, Do I want it or Do I need it? Make a list of your priorities and stick to it! As it is very tempting to want all the things!
- Don’t Overthink Everything – You will have many choices to make from the food to the color of the bridesmaid’s dresses to the type of music that will be played. Keep the choices to only a few and don’t stress over them! Make a decision and move on to the next. It is very easy to get analysis paralysis when planning your wedding, too many options are not good. So keep it simple!
