Wedding Planner vs. Venue Coordinator – What’s the Difference?

What is the difference between a Venue Coordinator and a Wedding Planner? That is a great question. While some venues have a Venue Coordinator, this person does help with the wedding, but is not the same as a Wedding Planner! The venue coordinator works for the venue, not for you! Basically, the venue coordinator is looking out for the venue’s best interest, while the Wedding Planner is looking out for your best interest.

When you hire a wedding planner, you are hiring a person who will be by your side the entire day. Your wedding planner will be there to bustle your dress, tell you when events are happening, get you a drink when needed and much more. The venue coordinator attends to the needs of the venue, the food, the bar, the set up of items, the bathrooms, etc. They will be working all around the venue, not just by your side all day. They do a great job at what they do, but it is for the venue’s sake.

Your wedding planner will be an extension of you, as she will literally be by you all day (except when you take your vows)! She will oversee that the day is running smoothly and on time and she will take care of any of your needs. So, if your venue does have a venue coordinator, keep in mind what their true role is. They will be taking care of the venue. If you want the peace of mind knowing that you will be taken care of all day long, then hire a Wedding Planner!
